Tall Renaissance style mantel in walnut with carved grotesques. The center of the entablature is adorned with a smooth cartouche held up by fanciful childlike creatures ensconced in arabesques of foliage and flowers, framed with acanthus leaf decorated columns and an arcade. Very architectural in design the entablature is crowned by a multi-tiered cornice and is supported by dentils. The jambs rise up from block feet to lion head modillions. Delicatedly carved semi-detached columns adorn the arched hearth opening.
