Gothic period cast iron fireback

Of very beautiful dimensions, this cast iron fireback was realized in the Gothic period. Of square size, it is decorated with blazons with fleur-de-lis and motives for ropes. This fireback is in very good condition.

"Parcae", antique cast iron fireback

Featuring a square shape this large antique fire back was made during the 18th century. The three Parcaes are portrayed shadowing the destiny of men. Clotho holds a cattail, Lachesis is turning the spindle, Atropos, armed with scissors, cutting the thread of life.

French Revolution Fireback

This antique Louis XIV style fireback from the 19th century shows the allegory of Aurora brandishing her sceptre, together with the Gallic rooster A similar fireback is conserved in the Museum of Châlons-sur Marne and is illustrated in Henri Carpentier's book " Firebacks".

Fireback « Victoria »

This fireback was made of cast iron in the 20th century. It is decorated with an allegorical figure of Victoria. She is represented as a winged goddess, dressed in an antique drapery and headless, holding a laurel wreath in one hand, the emblem of victory that the winner is supposed to receive, and holding a palm, the insignia of the winner. Victoria is framed by scroll and acanthus leaf motifs.

Fireback depicting Pluto and Cerberus

This small plaque represents the god Pluto, also known as Hades in Greek, the god of the Underworld in Greek mythology. He can be recognized by the three-headed dog at his side, Cerberus, who guards the gateway to the Underworld.
