Beautiful Louis XVI style fireplace in white Carrara marble with bronze ornaments

This superb Louis XVI style fireplace was made in the 19th century in a beautiful white Carrara marble. It is adorned with carved bronzes. Acanthus leaves drop down on the slightly curved jambs decorated in their lower part with curled bronze border. At their extremities, two naturalist square rosettes, typical of the Louis XVI style, are faithful to the 18th taste for ornaments inspired by nature. The frieze is traversed by winding foliage patterns.

Louis XVI period mantel carved in stone

This Louis XVI period fireplace is carved in stone. The band of the fireplace is adorned with moldings creating depth to the surface. At its center is a flower motif composed of acanthus leaves in a circular motion around the central knob, a recurring motif in the Louis XVI style. The console section of the fireplace’s legs features three pilaster-like recesses. This motif continues along the legs, with some of the recesses filled in.
