« Leaving for the Hunt , Important enamelled stained glass window by Maison Lorin coming from the Château des Ollières in Nice, France

Framed by a geometrical frieze, this panel presents two figures standing under an architectural structure with a backdrop of a medieval landscape. The two characters are ready for the hunt: a gentleman, seen from the back, holds a greyhound by a leach, a lady turned slightly to the right has a falcon perched on her left hand. Her right hand points to the Provence region's coat of arms at her feet : “paly of or and gules”. Both are dressed in the styles of the days of François 1er and Henri II (1rst half of 16th century): the man wears a short doublet over a red chemise, an upper bombasted hose over particolored tights. The sleeves and shoes are « paned » as was very stylish in the 16th century. He wears a cap with a feather, which was equally very popular in those days. The lady wears a long Carmen red gown with puffed green shoulders and a lace collar. A large embroidered purse hangs from her waist. In the background, a landscape with a castle stands out against a blue sky. Imaginative architectural elements frame this scene in the Renaissance style: very fine columns support a curved pediment lush with flower and leaf festoons. The base of the composition is a trompe-l’œil of an architectural decoration framed by putti holding a festoon of flowers and fruit. In the middle, a blue shield heralding what are probably initials.

Daphne and Apollo, antique Louis XVI style fireback with a mythological decor

This cast iron fireback with mythological decor was made during the 19th century. It is decorated with Louis XVI style typical elements such as foliate scrolls, Acanthus leaves and delicate flowers. It has on its center a medallion surrounted by an architectural decor with a palmette on its pediment. The central cartridge is underlined by two branches of laurel attached to each other. The mythological subject represented on this cast iron fireback fireback is the story of Apollo and Daphne who preferred to transform into a laurel rather than to accept advances from Apollo. The latter picked a branch of the precious laurel in order to decorate his lyre and his quiver which are typical ornaments of Louis XVI style.

Fire fender with acanthus leaves

These andirons joined by a fire fender were made of gilt bronze in the late 19th century. Resting on a base taking decorative architectural elements, the andirons are adorned with beautiful acanthus leaves scrolls.

Louis XV style fireback "Dionysus as a child"

This rectangular fireback made of cast iron in the 20th century is adorned with a scene depicting two putti. One of them is the representation of Dionysus as a child as indicate his attributs, the vines and the thyrsus that he holds in his left hand. The scene is framed by an elegant checkerboard with flowers and acanthus leaves motifs on the sides.

Louis XV style fireback decorated with a gallant scene

Made of cast iron, this fireback is decorated with a scene largely inspired by 18th century gallant scenes. In a rocaille frame made of foliage, large acanthus leaves and volutes, a seated woman holds a small bird in her hand and turns her head towards the man sitting next to her playing the flute.
