Shaped as a square, it is adorned with an allegory of Winter detaching on a rococo frame on a background composed of diamonds adorned with flowers. Winter is depicted by an old man covered with a drapery warming up near a fire. A fireback with a similar decoration is illustrated in the book of Henri Carpentier "Firebacks".

This Louis XVI-style fireplace is in Arabescato marble, a white marble veined with gray or black. It is one of the white marbles of Carrara, and its main quarries are located in the Carrara basin in Italy, at Seravezza Lucca. The band of this fireplace is defined by moldings forming a rectangle carved into the marble. At the center of this rectangle are multiple laurel leaves and their fruits, which separate into two asymmetrical parts and meet at their ends outside the frame to form an oval at its center. The inside of the oval is invested with a wavy, knotted ribbon. From this center, two long laurel branches extend along the sides of the band, framed by the rectangle of moldings. The console parts of the leg are adorned with a framed floral motif, formed by acanthus leaves and a central high-relief bud. The top of the leg is curved by the presence of scrolls on the sides of the leg. The face of the leg features superimposed acanthus leaves plunging downwards. The rest of the leg is fluted and ends in a scroll. The central flute is adorned with pearls. This fireplace is characterized by a blend of natural motifs, such as flowers and foliage, with motifs from Antiquity, such as the use of acanthus flowers, laurel crown, and column fluting. This mix is typical of the Louis XVI style, to which we can add the presence of ribbons and pearls, also characteristic of this style.

This Louis XV-style Carrara fireplace stands out through its symmetrical and detailed sculpture. White Carrara marble, sometimes with gray veins, has brightening and delicacy qualities that enable the sculptor to work in fine detail. This fineness/delicacy can be seen over the band and fireplace’s legs. The band is thinner on the sides and thickens in the center, producing its curved shape. Thin and hollow moldings follow the contours of the band. In the band’s center, acanthus leaves create the shape of a sun. The leaf tips stand out slightly, creating volume. High-relief curled leaves skirt this central form. On the sides, two flowers with leaves extended on either side. At the top of the fireplace's legs, the central shape of the band is recreated by the acanthus leaves. We can notice that a flower from the acanthus leaves runs/gets down the length of the leg, moving to the right for the right foot and the left for the left. In the second part of the leg, there are four leaves following each other from the largest at the top to the smallest at the bottom. Flutes longing the length of the rest of the leg. These patterns are first hollowed and then filled in. This fireplace is accompanied by its symmetrical cast-iron interior that echoes the mantel's motifs. The center reuses the central pattern of the band formed by the acanthus leaves. In the hollow of the fireplace’s curves, a half-naked woman and a child are set in interlinked circles. These circles are themselves surrounded by intricate scrolls echoing the leaf motif.
