Large Louis XVI style fireplace made out of white Carrara marble during the 1980's. Slightly curved mantel. Both jambs are carved with acanthus leaves. The frieze is ornated with a shell and foliages. The large overmantel mirror is painted and gilded.

Modern fireback with the France coat of arms

This cast iron fireback is moderne work from a 17th century original. In a hexagonal shape, our firebasck is dated 1662 and adorned with the France coat of arms composed of the three fleur-de-lis and surmounted by a Royal crown in a laurel leaves branches surround.

Large Louis XV style Carrara marble mantel with rich decoration

Large Louis XV style mantel carved in Carrara marble in the second half of the 19th century. The decoration is characteristic of the Louis XV style, especially the play of curves and counter curves. This is particularly true on the panelled entablature, the central ornament on a scrollwork background ending in a shell, is framed by plant elements including falling acanthus leaves. This rich decoration can be found on the upper part of the curved console jambs. The hearth opening is underlined by a molding ending in a scroll of foliage. The lower part of the jambs is enhanced by large upright acanthus leaves carved in relief.

Théodore DECK, Decorative Dish in Glazed Ceramic with Poppy Flowers

This decorative plate with poppy flower decoration was created by the ceramist Théodore Deck at the end of the 19th century. Théodore Deck initially trained in the stove-making industry. When he established himself in Paris in 1858, he manufactured stove coverings. Buoyed by his success, he then ventured into ceramics. His workshop created numerous plates, sometimes in collaboration with recognized painters. He gradually perfected his technique and achieved significant success at the many Universal Exhibitions he participated in. In 1878, he was made an Officer of the Legion of Honour. He directed the Sèvres manufactory from 1887 until his death in 1891. Against a white background adorned with lightly embossed decorations, several field flowers stand out: poppy flowers, both in full bloom and in various stages of blooming, are displayed alongside small orange flowers and even some grasses. The blues and greens of the leaves complement the vivid colors of the flowers. This work reflects the fashion of Japonism that swept through European art from the 1870s to the early years of the 20th century, which particularly influenced Théodore Deck, a collector of East Asian art.

Louis XV style red marble mantel with curved sides and shell flowers

This Louis XV-style red marble fireplace features a curved band and detailed center. The center of the band is adorned with a shell decorated with daisies and acanthus leaves. At its center is a large flower with fine petals. The shell motif, typical of the Louis XV style borrowing from the aquatic discourse of the Rococo, is detailed by the presence of numerous lines carved into the marble, accentuating the contrast between the central shape and the rest of the fireplace. On the rest of the band, moldings follow its curved shape. The legs of the fireplace are carved on the console part of the leg and then curved. On the face of the console is an acanthus leaf mingled in a scroll. Two flowers and foliage emerge vertically from the scroll and run along the leg. Two scrolls are present on either side of the console part of the leg, reinforcing the curved character of the leg. As with the band, moldings run the length of the leg.

This fireplace is adorned with plant and Greek motifs, typical of the Louis XVI style. The band is adorned with laurel branches, a Hellenistic symbol dedicated to triumphs. These branches are tied with ribbons, a recurring motif in the Louis XVI style. These elements decorate the central part of the band, while the rest is adorned with moldings. On the console part of the leg is a flower motif composed of leaves and a bud. This motif takes up the entire space of the console. The rest of the leg resembles a Greek column with its fluting. The flutes are gradually replaced by field grasses, then by cylinders.
