Magnificent trumeau stately in size and decoration. Rectangular, and fully carved, the cross beams above and below the mirror are carved with flowers and foliage - a cartouche displays a date: May 14, 1869, which was the period of Napoleon III. The sides are adorned with architectural motifs : pilasters with Corinthian capitals rising both to and above a shield. The shields are different but both are topped with a marquis crown. They are placed again at the top, in an elaborate pediment, supported by lions and crowned once more, amidst swirling rinceaux of acanthus leaves. With this lush decor, the gilding and the various motifs this is clearly an exceptional Napoleon III piece.
