This beautiful antique Louis XVI style fireplace was made in the 19th century out of white Carrara marble. The entablature is originally carved with a frieze of different flowers, of a remarkable finesse. The frieze is lined with a row of pearls which is characteristic of the style, and framed by square rosettes. The jambs of the mantel are covered with acanthus leaves and carved with a ribbon which falls on the hooves.
The beauty of this fireplace is due to the special finesse of the sculpture, which catches the light, and the whiteness of Carrara marble veined in a discreet gray.
This fireplace is sold with its original cast iron insert but without any marble floor. This one could be made to order.
