A very rare variety of Saint Maximin marble enhances the very architectural design of this antique mantel from the mid 19th century. Typical of the Capucine model, the composition is primarily made up of straight lines with straight jambs supporting a plain entablature. But here the jambs are fluted pilasters rising to capitals decorated with diamond carved squares. The front is carved with molded panels. A slightly recessed plain frame surrounds the hearth opening.
This mantel pairs almost exactly with item #1542 - with slightly different dimensions.
This fireplace is sold without any insert nor marble floor but they can be made to order.
