Napoleon III style Arabescato marble fireplace mantel of Louis XVI style inspiration with its straight pure lines and square angled shelf. The heads of the jambs are adorned with four leaf clover type square rosettes and the center of the entablature is decorated with a rare floral motif enclosed in a cartouche.
Arabescato marble comes from the Carrara region in Italy. It is a white marble with crystal particles underlined by stylolites and marked by green and black minerals. Quarried since Antiquity. there are still a number of quarries that are active. Used in the Mirror gallery in the Versailles Palace.
This fireplace is sold without insert nor marble floor but they can be made to order.
