The rectangular shape of the frame of this mantel is very typical of the Louis XII and Louis XIV periods. The large Bolection molding characteristic of the Louis XIV style that runs along the jambs and the entablature adds character to this fireplace. On either side, other more discreet moldings unfold. The jambs support a rather high entablature that is decorated with a central red marble inlayed rectangular feature, carved with diamond facets. This striking detail makes this fireplace very original. The inlay is framed in a series of moldings and flanked at either end by flutings like those of an acroterion.
Can be paired with another Marquina mantel, item #1559.
This fireplace is sold without any insert nor marble floor but they can be made to order.
