Carved in sea green marble, this fireplace with its gilded bronze ornaments is typical of the French Empire style. Fireplaces with columns are less common. Here they are enclosed and have gilded bronze rings, at the top and bottom made up of leaves. These jambs support the rectangular entablature , which is decorated with three antique bronze medallions. Two being medallions of women's faces, and the central one, featuring a face surrounded by flames.
