This beautiful antique Louis XIV style fireback was made in the 18th century. The armorial decor is not identified. This is probably a fireback made at the occasion of a wedding. It is surmounted by a crest.
A fireback of the same model, conserved in the Orleans Museum is illustrated in the book of Henri Carpentier "Plaques de cheminées" at number 942 (see pictures).
