This very beautiful antique Louis XV style and period fireback was made during the 18th century. The decor is very elegant and delicate. In a rocaille style frame, a Centaur and a Lapithe sitting on a horse are involved in a battle with one another within a lake landscape. In the background, a drapped women seems to be in distress and is praying for someone to save her.
